I thought I'd tell you some more about shopping in the UK. You might be interested to know that most shops in the UK are quite happy to give you a refund (your money back) if you have your receipt  (the piece of paper you get when you buy something). Even if you don't have a reciept, most big shops will do an exchange (where you get something different instead of your item).

After Christmas, some people aren't happy with their Christmas presents and take them back to the shop for an exchange or refund! In fact in large shops, when you shop before Christmas, you may be offered a gift receipt. This is a receipt which you give with the present, which doesn't show the price of the item, but means that the person can take it back if they want to.

That might seem ungrateful, but some people are happy for thier loved ones to take back presents and get something they really want instead. Do you find that surprising? If you give someone a present, would you be upset if they wanted to change it for something else?

Before I go, an answer for Jenny's questions which she posted: She asked how to improve her confidence when speaking to foreigners.

I would suggest that the most important thing to do is to stop worrying! If you are worried about making mistakes then you are more likely not to seem confident when talking to foreigners. Try to think carefully about what you want to say, rather than talking too much and too quickly. Also don't worry too much about making mistakes, especially grammar mistakes. As long as a person can understand what you mean, they won't mind if you make some grammer mistakes.
